Fine Information

Traffic or Local Ordinance Citations

If you have received a citation from Marietta Police Department or Georgia State Patrol within the city limits of Marietta, you will receive a notice mailed to the address shown on your citation from the Clerk of Court within 10 business days of the offense. This notice will indicate your fine amount and if it is a payable offense without having to appear in court. If you fail to pay your fine or appear in court, a warrant for your arrest will be issued, an additional contempt of court fine will be accessed and your driver's license will be suspended.

Photo Red-Light Violation

These violations are different than any other usual traffic violations and have no impact on your driving record or insurance. Pursuant to Georgia Law, payment of the civil penalty shall not be made part of the driving record of the person nor shall it be used by insurance companies in calculating motor vehicle insurance premiums nor be deemed a criminal conviction. The amount of the penalty is shown on the notice that was previously mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle that has allegedly failed to stop or crossed the white stop line on the pavement and entered the intersection after the circular or arrow signal has turned red. The maximum penalty amount for the violation is $70. If you fail to respond to the notice with payment of the penalty or file an affidavit naming the driver or file an appeal by the due date shown on the violation notice, an additional $25 late-fee assessment will be added each 30-day period the violation remains unpaid.

Parking Ticket

The amount of the fines are shown on your ticket. Payment is due within 5 business days of the issue date. If you need additional information concerning a parking ticket, call 770-794-5435. Your tag number or ticket number will be needed in order for us to assist you. Failure to pay or accumulation of five unpaid tickets will result in additional penalties and immobilization of your vehicle. These violations are not eligible to be paid on line or by phone at this time.
